11470. BENETTON: A STUDY IN ADVERTISING CONTROVERSY. This paper examines the Benetton advertising controversy. Following a brief history and review of the central themes in Benetton's campaign, print advertisements from 1990-1994 are analyzed in terms of their implicit and explicit messages. Public and industry reaction to the ads are also considered.
