| 14016. PLEA BARGAINING. This research paper provides an overview and analysis of plea bargaining in the U. S. criminal justice system. Discusses the forms and processes of plea bargaining, traces its origin and history, outlines the current scope of the practice, and presents the arguments in favor and against the continuance of the practice. Reviews attempts at reforming and/or curtailing plea bargaining and considers the impact of Supreme Court decisions, mandatory minimums and sentencing guidelines.
