15874. A COMPARISON OF THE KECK TELESCOPES (IN HAWAII) AND THE HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE. This paper compares the Hawaiian-based Keck telescopes with the Hubble space telescope. The paper argues that the Hubble Space telescope is especially good for locating objects in deep space and for providing photographic images that stir public interest in astronomy. However, the less costly Keck telescopes are comparable in quality and are better-suited for data analysis. As such, the Keck telescopes have made a more important contribution to the advancement of astronomical science. Includes a table comparing the features of the two types of telescopes. 8 pages, 23 footnotes in text, 8 bibliographic sources.
