15721. GOODS, POWER, HISTORY (ARNOLD J. BAUER). A discussion of Bauer's study of the "material culture" of Latin America throughout its history. It is argued that Bauer is inconclusive on the extent to which the "material culture" is "manufactured" (imposed by outside forces) or "genuine" (accepted by the people). Despite Bauer's equivocal stance, it is concluded that the "material culture" of Latin America is more "manufactured" than "genuine." 11 pages, 26 footnotes, 1 bibliographic source.
