This paper provides an overview of the social and political implications of Mecca Cola, an alternative to Coca-Cola which is popular among Arabic consumers in Europe and the Middle East. Argues that consumption of Mecca Cola serves as a way to protest against American imperialism and Middle East policies. As such, the product demonstrates the process of consumers making free and rational choices and, more specifically, using their choices as a form of resistance.
