15751. MINORITY WOMEN AND EATING DISORDERS. This paper presents a review of literature which shows that contrary to earlier assumptions, minority women are prone to various types of eating disorders. In addition, some studies have raised interesting questions regarding the role of acculturation in causing eating disorders (or of resistance to acculturation in contributing to obesity). Inconsistencies can be found in the relatively few studies that have been conducted so far on this topic. There is a need for further study and the development of better measurement tools. 23 pages; 52 footnotes; 18 bibliographic sources.
