15726. PREDICTIONS OF VIOLENT YOUTH CRIME WAVE. This paper provides an overview, analysis and assessment of predictions (based on statistical modeling) made by criminologists in the 1990s that there would be a major youth violent crime wave during the early 21st century. The central arguments and basis of the prediction are discussed, followed by a discussion and analysis of experts’ refutation of these predictions, and concluding with counter-arguments providing support for the predictions of a youth-based crime wave.
