| 15889. THE EFFECTS OF COLONIALISM IN THE CARIBBEAN. This paper critically examines the impact of colonialism in the Caribbean, arguing that although colonialism brought some benefits, it mostly had a damaging impact. Notably, colonialism in the region caused the destruction of indigenous populations, limited future economic development, created a social underclass, resulted in fragmentation among the islands, and contributed to the region’s underdevelopment in the present day. 6 pages; 24 footnotes; 5 bibliographic sources. |
