17152. ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE AND INFLAMMATION: A LAYMAN'S SUMMARY OF A MEDICAL JOURNAL ARTICLE. This paper presents a layman’s summary of a June 2003 article in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). The article reports on a large controlled experimental study on the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease. The researchers test the hypothesis that treatment with one of two NSAIDs will reduce cognitive decline in patients with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer’s Disease.
