17635. WERE THE ANCIENT MACEDONIANS GREEK? This paper considers the long-running debate concerning the question of whether or not the ancient Macedons (Macedonians) were ethnically Greek, an issue which has acquired increasing importance in recent years as a result of the breakup of Yugoslavia and the 1991 formation of the Republic of Macedonia.
