This paper provides a favorable review of A System of Architectural Ornament, the 1924 book by noted modernist architect Louis H. Sullivan. Sullivan’s book is concerned with developing a theory for using ornamentation in architecture. According to Sullivan, designs can be based on a combination of organic elements (such as leaf patterns) and inorganic elements (such as geometric shapes).
