| 18119. BEHAVIORISM IN THE CLASSROOM. This paper uses classroom observations in order to discuss the use of reinforcements in early education, with an emphasis on the approaches known as Applied Behavior Management and Cognitive Behavior Modification. The paper also discusses the criticisms of the behavioral approach, as well as some of the existing alternatives (cognitive learning, the social-cognitive approach, and the humanistic approach). It is concluded that the humanistic approach is the best alternative, because it increases self-concept and intrinsic motivation, and it is focused on the needs of individual students.
