18381. CASE 11 JACK WELCH AND JEFFREY IMMELT: CONTINUITY AND CHANGE IN STRATEGY, STYLE AND CULTURE AT GE HITT, IRELAND, HOSKISSON STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT CASE STUDY. This paper provides a Berkeley Research case analysis and case solution to an ICFAI Center for Management Research case study by Shirisha Regani and Saji Sam George on former GE CEO Jack Welch and current GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt. This version of the case appears in Hitt et al.’s Strategic Management text. The case focuses on succession planning and then the transition from Jack Welch to Jeffrey Immelt as GE’s new leader, considering the extent to which Immelt has altered GE’s strategy and looking at the challenges and opportunities Immelt faces in leading GE in 2007. The paper includes a strategic profile and problem definition; situation analysis (general environmental, industry, competitor, internal); SWOT analysis; strategy formulation (identification and evaluation of alternatives); and recommendations and implementation/action plan.
