| 18653. JUNG’S MODEL OF THE PSYCHE. This paper notes that the psychological theorist Carl Jung was influenced by Sigmund Freud, but developed a model of the psyche that was somewhat different from Freud’s. According to Jung, the psyche includes such components as ego, self, persona, anima/animus, and the shadow. A major goal of Jungian therapy is to attain wholeness of self (or “integration”) by accessing the unconscious mind and interpreting its messages. The methods recommended by Jung include dream work, analysis of symbols, art therapy and movement therapy. KEYWORDS: psychology Jung Freud. Psychotherapy psychoanalysis Jungian.
