18844. Reverse Discrimination Case: Johnson v. Transportation Agency of Santa Clara County, 480 u.s. 616 (1987). This paper explores the controversial issue of “reverse discrimination” using the Supreme Court case of Johnson v. Transportation Agency (involving a male road dispatcher’s claim that a woman had been unfairly promoted based on her gender and his employer’s policy of reverse discrimination). The analysis first reviews the facts of the case and the ruling by the Court, including Justice Scalia’s vehement dissent. The second part of the paper considers the political implications of the case and offers an argument and opinion favoring the Court’s ruling. TAGS: reverse discrimination, supreme court ruling, landmark case, employment discrimination gender, women in transportation. APA Style. 7 pages, 17 footnotes. 7 bibliographic sources. 1,588 words.   $49
