Search by topic:   18778. THE BAPTISM OF JESUS. This paper is concerned with the baptism of Jesus Christ, as described in the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke). The baptism started Jesus’ ministry, established him as the Son of God, and provided a model for later Christians to follow. It is noted that there are similarities in the three accounts as well as differences, which are due to the different theologies and audiences of the Gospel writers.
