| 18710. THE ECONOMIES OF THE UNITED STATES AND RUSSIA, 2000-2008. This paper compares the economic policies of the United States and Russia during the presidencies of George W. Bush and Vladimir Putin. Certain similarities, as well as differences, can be seen in how Bush and Putin dealt with economic issues. It is noted that the US economy declined catastrophically during the Bush presidency and, although Russia profited from oil revenues, it too was facing severe economic problems by 2008. It is argued that the policies of the US and Russia contributed to the economic problems of both nations.
