| 18514. THE PEARL FISHERS (GEORGES BIZET). This paper provides a critical review of Les Pêcheurs de Perles (“The Pearl Fishers”), an early opera by the composer of the better-known work Carmen. Although The Pearl Fishers does not live up to the musical and dramatic standards of the later work, it nonetheless demonstrates Bizet’s budding skill as a composer and orchestrator. Certain arias and songs particularly stand out as highlights, including the duet “Au Fond du Temple.” KEYWORDS: music opera review Bizet. MLA Style. 7 pages, 16 footnotes, 7 bibliographic sources. 1,726 words. |
