This paper reviews Leatherbarrow's book, in which the author argues that the design of a building is more than just a matter of superficial "style." According to Leatherbarrow, a building's uniqueness is also due to the adaptations that need to be made in terms of its formal elements (site, enclosure, and materials). The review is favorable, noting that Leatherbarrow makes good points and sound arguments; furthermore, the book contains a great deal of useful theoretical and historical information.
