18335. VERY LIGHT JETS. This paper is concerned with very light jets (VLJs), which are single-pilot jets that compete with larger jets for airspace and runway space. Because of their relatively low cost and ability to access smaller airports, it is expected that VLJs will be increasingly used in upcoming years. The SHEL model is used to analyze human factors issues that need to be addressed regarding this emerging aviation technology.
