This paper argues that face-to-face communications are still important in business despite the rise of globalized operations and the use of e-mail. For example, it is helpful for managers to be able to observe nonverbal behaviors during communications. It is argued that videoconferencing provides a step toward solving this problem. The paper discusses the advantages and disadvantages of videoconferencing and notes that technological developments are constantly improving the ability of teleconferencing to create a sense of “telepresence.” KEYWORDS: business to business communications videoconferences management communication technology.
