| 18785. WAL-MART’S SICK-LEAVE POLICY. This paper discusses the November 2009 public relations campaign of the National Labor Committee regarding Wal-Mart’s sick-leave policy. Wal-Mart’s policy was encouraging employees to come to work when sick, thereby risking the spread of the swine flu virus. The ROPE model is used to analyze the PR campaign. It is noted that the campaign was successful in increasing public awareness but not in changing the attitudes or behaviors of Wal-Mart’s management.
