05583. REACTIVE NATIONALISM IN CHINESE HISTORY: THE CASE OF THE T'AI-P'ING REBELLION AND THE NATIONALIST REVOLUTION OF 1911. This paper providess a brief description and analysis of the quasi-religious rebellion of the 1860s and the overthrow of the Manchu Dynasty in 1911 in terms of a reaction against foreign interference in China and the influence of foreign ideologies including Christianity and liberalism.
