07231. MODELS OF REVOLUTION: THE CASE OF EL SALVADOR. The ongoing civil war in El Salvador is analyzed in terms of the models developed by Brinton (Anatomy of Rev.) and Wolff (Peasant Wars of 20th Cent.). Includes summary of these two books: history of revolution in El Salvador and analysis of support for both sides and the apparent stalemate in war. Finds that El Salvador exhibits many of characteristics set forth by these authors, but also represents example of peasantry being used by outside forces (discussed by Wolf); since the war was started by opposing ideologists and not by peasants, stalemate of terror and political polarization is likely to continue. 10 pages, 17 footnotes, 9 bibliographic sources.
