15236. Clicks Versus Bricks: Online Banking. This investigation considers the future of online versus brick-and-mortar banking. Drawing on a review of current literature on Internet banking, the analysis seeks to test the validity of two hypotheses related to the topic of online versus brick-and-mortar banking: 1) H1: Internet banking (and by implication, Internet banks) will supersede brick-and-mortar banking (and banks) in importance within the next few years: and 2) H2: Internet banking will be an important but not dominant new channel for banking. The analysis rejected H1 and found conditional support for H2. Concludes that the future of banking is multichannel, with the Internet functioning as just one of several channels.
