17129. Comparing Two Criminology Theories: Social Bond Theory Versus Self-Control Theory. This paper compares and contrasts two different theories of criminality: Hirschi’s Social Bond theory and Gottfredson & Hirschi’s subsequently developed Self Control theory. Each theory falls generally with the category of criminological control theories, but they differ on where they place the bulk of the responsibility for criminal motivation (social bond focuses on society and social relations, while self-control theory places the causes of crime within the individual criminal). TAGS: criminological theory crime causation tavis hirschi social bond social control theories juvenile delinquency theory delinquents criminals. APA Style. 8 pages; 13 footnotes; 4 bibliographic sources. 1,864 words.
