17950. amazon.com Strategic Management Case Study. This paper provides an analysis and case solution of a case study on Amazon.com. The case is drawn from Hitt, Ireland, & Hoskissons Strategic Management: Competitiveness and Globalization. The time is mid-1998, three years after Amazon's July 1995 founding. Yet to turn a profit, Amazon faces challenges as it struggles to achieve and maintain a sustainable competitive advantage. This case analysis considers how Amazon can best meet these challenges which include becoming profitable, integrating acquisitions and expanding product portfolio, and fending off competitors.
